General Information
History:
The Department of Audio-Visual Techniques and Media Production was established in 2018 under the Vocational School of Technical Sciences at Iğdır University. Since its inception, it has evolved through educational and training activities aimed at meeting the needs of the media and communication industry. Our department has played a significant role in training qualified professionals and has contributed to media production processes by developing projects that follow current technologies and industry developments.
Program Learning Outcomes:
Graduates of our program will:
- They are prepared for the industry as individuals with creative and technical skills in photography and camerawork.
- They learn and apply digital image processing techniques as well as the use of professional cameras and equipment
- They gain knowledge in cinematography, visual culture, and media ethics.
- They develop professional skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and project management
- They gain the ability to adapt to technological advancements in the industry and produce innovative solutions.
Language / Type of Education:
The language of instruction in our department is Turkish. The type of education offered is formal education, with students attending classes in person and benefiting from hands-on training. A supportive learning environment is provided for international students, with additional resources and support offered when needed
Infrastructure Facilities:
The Department of Audio-Visual Techniques and Media Production provides students with a learning environment supported by modern and technological infrastructure.
In our department:
- Studios equipped with professional cameras, lighting equipment, and sound systems,
- High-tech computer labs equipped for digital image processing and media production,
- Workshops available for students to use for individual and group projects,
- A library and digital resources that keep up with technological advancements are available.
Our department provides a robust education aimed at preparing industry-ready individuals, supported by an infrastructure designed to equip students with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical experience.

Course Catalogue
Double Major / Minor Programs
Double Major Program: Provides students the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree in another field of interest alongside their primary program. In this program, students complete the courses of two different departments and graduate with diplomas in both fields.
Minor Program: Allows students to take a specific number of courses in another field of interest outside their primary program. Students who complete the minor program receive an official certificate in that field; however, this does not equate to a second bachelor's degree.

Exchange Programs
Exchange Programs offer students the opportunity to study at another university, either domestically or abroad, for a specific period. Through these programs, students can explore different cultures, improve their foreign language skills, and gain international academic experience. The most common exchange programs include Erasmus+, Mevlana, and Farabi.

Program Objectives and Goals
The objective of the Department of Audio-Visual Techniques and Media Production is to equip students with the knowledge and skills required in the fields of photography and camerawork, preparing them effectively for professional life. Our students gain technical expertise, creative thinking abilities, and qualifications aligned with industry standards, enabling them to become active professionals in the media and communication sector.
Current Status and Future of the Department
Our department continues its educational activities with an experienced academic staff and a well-equipped student profile. Through courses and projects supported by modern technologies, our students gain knowledge and experience aligned with industry standards. In the future, we aim to further enhance our infrastructure, participate in national and international projects, strengthen collaboration with the industry, and reach a broader student base.

Photography and camerawork education encompasses a wide range of professions. Our graduates can work in fields such as photojournalism, camerawork, cinematography, video production expertise, digital content creation, photography artistry, and advertising photography. Additionally, with the rapid growth of digital media and visual communication tools, professions like social media content creation and digital publishing have also gained significant importance.

Our graduates have extensive employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors. They can work in various fields, including press organizations, television channels, advertising agencies, digital media platforms, and film and video production companies.
